Carmelo Meazza

Carmelo Meazza is a full professor of Moral Philosophy at the University of Sassari, where he also teaches Theoretical Philosophy. He graduated in philosophy from the University of Pisa under the supervision of Remo Bodei and Massimo Barale, specializing in Hegelian logic with a thesis titled Ordinary Proposition and Speculative Proposition in Hegelian Logic.

His research field lies within the phenomenological-hermeneutic area, with a particular focus on the thought of Hegel, Heidegger, Levinas, Gentile, Derrida, and Nancy. He has published numerous essays and monographs, including L’evento esposto come evento d’eccezione (Inschibboleth, 2012), L’effetto del reale e la prossimità del tra-noi (Guida, 2018), and La scena del dato (Inschibboleth, 2019).

In addition to his teaching and research activities, Meazza has held various academic leadership roles: from 2017 to 2019, he was the president of the Master’s degree program in Historical and Philosophical Sciences; from 2020 to 2023, he served as the deputy director of the Department of History, Human Sciences, and Education (DISSUF); and from 2014 to 2016, he was a member of the University’s Independent Bioethics Committee for the use of animals in experimental research.

He is also a member of the Regional Ethics Committee and actively participates in the scientific committees of journals and editorial series within his disciplinary field.
