
Mauro Mantovani
Born in Moncalieri (Turin) on 1966-01-03.
Member of the Salesians of Don Bosco, ordained a priest in 1994.
In November 1995, he earned a Degree in Philosophy from the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, with a thesis titled: “The concept of law from Thomas Aquinas to Francisco Suarez” (Prof. Armando Rigobello).
In 2006, he earned a Pontifical and Civil Doctorate in Philosophy from the Pontifical University of Salamanca in Spain, with a thesis titled: “Francisco de Vitoria y sus sucesores (1530-1560) sobre la ‘demostración’ de la existencia de Dios. Los comentarios universitarios salmantinos a la cuestión II de la Primera Parte de la Suma Teológica de Santo Tomás de Aquino” (Prof. I. Murillo Murillo).
In 2011, he earned a Doctorate in Theology from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas “Angelicum” in Rome, with a thesis (December 17, 2010) titled: “Does God exist? (Summa Theologiae I, q. 2). A century of Dominican authors and their respective texts (Salamanca, 1561-1669)” (Prof. Ángel Martínez Casado).
He has also received the following awards: the 2016 Mediterranean Prize “Bearer of Peace” from the Fondazione Mediterraneo (Rome, October 19, 2016); the International Bonifacio VIII Award – City of Anagni 2020, XVIII edition “…for a Culture of Peace” (February 15, 2020); the International Saint Thomas Aquinas Award, XIII edition, conferred by the Circolo San Tommaso d’Aquino (Aquino, March 9, 2024); and an Honorary PhD of national interest in Cultural Heritage Sciences, conferred by the University of Rome Tor Vergata (Rome, December 1, 2025).
